Valkenburg aan de Geul

In medieval times it lay on the crossing point between France and Germany. For centuries it was located in the intellectual, cultural and political centre of Europe. It is because of this, that the city is the cradle of the European Union in its present form.

The Citizens' Initiative

In order to meet its goal and relocate Europe’s centre, the initiative has to collect one million votes from as many EU-countries as possible. When this requirement is met, it will prompt the European Commission to act accordingly.

The Relocation

The map shows how such relocation could look like. In the example parts of the South of Spain will be handed over to the Kingdom of Morocco, whilst Finish territory will go to the Russian Federation. Iceland and Suriname will become new members of EU.
